Wow! Where to start? Best bet is to visit the Vaux sur Mer Tourist Office, near the the patisserie at the top of the town. There is a first class, world renowned Zoo and fun theme park, Luna Park, situated in La Palmyre, just 15 minutes drive up the coast. It's easy to get to and is a great fun day out. A little further up the coast is the forest of La Coubre, a beautiful wooded area that is littered with picnic tables and very popular with the French. This backs directly onto the beautiful surfing beaches that face the Atlantic. Further south are the beautiful towns of Talmont, Meschers and St George de Didonne - all worthy of a visit. There is a dedicated cycle and walking path from St Palais to La Palmyre, which passes many beaches and picnic areas of the beautiful La Coubre pine forest - it is about a 7 mile route.
