Vaux-Sur-Mer is a beautiful French Village right on the Atlantic Coast and boasts some of the most unspoilt beaches in France. Within just 10 minutes walk, you have access to 2 fantastic beaches and crystal clear water. A few minutes further are 3 more beaches. You can hire bikes in the Village so you can cycle rather than use your car - much easier! And you can padlock them in the bike bays at the beach.
Within Vaux-sur-Mer is a Tourist Office, Boulangerie, Pattisserie, Charcuterie and Poissonerrie. There is a small tabac, Pizzeria, pharmacy and a flower shop. You can hire bikes here too. A beautiful 12 century church dominates the top of the Village, along with an attractive tower. There is a large park with a lake, tennis courts and a number of small camp sites.
Twice a week, there is a very good market, with fresh everything for sale!
Within 5 minutes walk of the house is a good sized 'Marchee U' supermarket which is excellent for all your food shopping requirements - fresh fish, bakery and wine & beer of course! It also has a coiffure, newsagent and small petrol station. You can also change the gas bottle for the barbeque here if needs be.
Please note though, that they will close for lunch, as most shops do between the hours of 12.00pm and 2.00pm.
Everything including shops, beaches, restaurants, bars, swimming pool is within walking distance of the house or you can hire bikes from the shop in the Village. If you want to go further afield, to Royan, La Palmyre, then you will need to use your car. We found that walking is a much nicer way to get about if you can!
